The conference is held in Thessaloniki, Greece, in the premises of the Research Dissemination Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. MEI 2012 aims to bring together researchers in the multi-disciplinary areas of Medical/Health Education, educational technology and technology enhanced learning, Medicine2.0 and the semantic web, and to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of their research activities. Academics, medical teachers, health professionals, clinicians, psychologists, web scientists, engineers, computer scientists and managers involved in medical education "as it is" or enhanced by ICT innovations, are encouraged to participate in this conference.

The spring school aims to encourage participants to better appreciate the critical role technologies play in providing opportunities for medical education and the potential of these opportunities for both learners and educators. The spring school will provide a stimulating atmosphere enforced by interactive sessions co-ordinated by well-known experts and an enthusiastic international technical team that will guide participants during the hands-on sessions, so that they maximise their technical skills and competencies, increase their knowledge base,  receive expert advice and collaborate and share with others contemporary medical education resources/material.

The programme will include some short theoretical, but mostly practical sessions on the field of Technology Enhanced Learning in Medical Education, which are of direct practical and methodological importance for state-of-the-art medical teaching and education research.
