The  Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD) is one of the research institutes of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR). The institute is devoted to the study of educational innovation brought about through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). The research undertaken focuses on:
   * the integration of ICT in various educational settings (school, university, business);
   * issues related to different disciplines and themes (humanities, sciences, environmental education, etc.)
   * learning issues of particular social significance (disability, learning difficulties, social disadvantage, intercultural issues, etc.)
   * the study of technological innovation as a learning resource.
The main areas of reference for the Institute's research work are the cognitive sciences, computer science and the pedagogy of the various disciplines.

The Institute for the Study of Urologic Diseases (ISUD) was established in 2005 by scientists- members of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the Research Committee of the AUTH.

The aim of ISUD is to promote scientific research, to educate health providers and patients, as well as raise the awareness of citizens on issues concerning the prevention, diagnosis and therapy of urological diseases.

The Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME) is comprised of a large number of top researchers and teachers in the fields of Medical Education, Medical Informatics, Medical Ethics, Clinical Management, Health Economics, Health Systems and Policy, Leadership in Healthcare, and Improvement, Implementation and Evaluation Research. LIME is now active in more than 40 national and international research projects in eLearning, medical simulation and medical management. With its unique and translational expertise, LIME will contribute to many aspects of the mEducator project.

The Sloop2desc project focuses on the concept of Open Educational Resources (OER) developed by a community of teachers, and is aimed at helping professionals in Vocational Education and Training (VET) to increase their knowledge and understanding of new educational systems that are based on learning outcomes and competencies. Specifically, the project refers to the European Qualification Framework (EQF), the reference framework adopted by the EU Parliament and Council in April 2008 to establish general criteria for comparing qualification and competencies systems developed and/or adopted in EU countries.

The L3S Research Center focuses on fundamental and application-oriented research in all areas of Web Science. L3S
researchers develop new methods and technologies that enable intelligent, seamless access to information via the Web; link
individuals and communities in all areas of the knowledge society, including academia and education; and connect the Internet to the real world.

In the context of a large number of projects, the L3S explores numerous issues covering the entire spectrum of challenges in Web Science as a field of research. Since its founding in 2001, the L3S has brought together numerous scholars and researchers who actively take on these challenges and perform interdisciplinary research in the fields of information retrieval, databases, the Semantic Web, performance modeling, service computing, and mobile networks. The center’s total research volume is more than 6 million euros per year, with a large number of projects in the areas of Intelligent Access to Information,Next Generation Internet, E-Science, Web Governance.
